Yes, it's still optional, but you have to order it or you won't get it. F-350 DRW is different. Before, 3.73 open axle was standard, and 4.10 limited slip was optional, and 4.30 came with the TowBoss pkg.

Get a QuoteSep 24, 2012 · The difference between 3.31 and 3.55 is 7.2%, so don't expect a huge difference if you spend the money to change the gears. That doesn't sound outrageous for a dealer price. Independent shops would be MUCH less, probably about half the cost. Adding a tuner to get more power CAN void your warranty on the engine, transmission, and axles.

Results in a roughly 2000rpm cruise @65, which is ok for OD and will help transmission last much longer. With 3.55s or especially 3.23s, front pump isn't turning fast enough to keep everything lubed and tight.

Get a QuoteJul 15, 2021 · Assuming you have 32 inch tires and you are traveling at 65 your gear ratio is around 5.62! Final drive on the zf5 speed is 0.77 to 1. Any gear set that is lower would help. On my own truck I have 32 inch tires, 3.55 gears and I spin 2000 at 65 mph.

I don't see any problem towing with the 3.42's with the nv5600, it's got a pretty low first gear. According to a gear ratio calculator thats based off a four speed with a 1:1 ratio at 65mph your rpm would drop by 418 rpm, it'll depend on the size of your tire though.

By the way, the 05's with a 3.55 have a max towing capacity of 8,200 lbs while the 3.73 is max rated at 9,200. That's for a 4x4. 4x2's are rated a little higher.

Your best investment right now would be a transmission cooler and engine oil cooler if you don't have them already.
