Idhaya College founded in 1996, is a women’s college in the revenue district of Sivaganga. It is approved by the Government of Tamil Nadu G.O. No. 511 and G.O. 106 and affiliated to Alagappa University, Karaikudi. It is a minority institution, established and administrated by the sisters of Immaculate Heart of Mary Congregation, Pondicherry . belonging to the catholic church. Though it is a minority institution, the members of other religion are also admitted irrespective of caste and creed, and their rights are respected.

Keeping in mind the vision of Fr. Louis Savenien Dupuis , the founder of this congregation, the college commits itself to uplift the womenfolk economically, socially, intellectually and spiritually. The students, the staff, the parents, the management, and the local people are all associated and form Idhaya family to strive towards the growth and prosperity to build up a better society.

The motto of the college is ‘Aspire to Achieve'. The college emblem depicts Women’s arms raising the world. The Women’s arms raising the world epitome idhayamites to keep up their status in society to achieve their endeavours with solidarity and acceptance that has to prevail among women. The aspiration of Idhaya is that every girl while attaining knowledge strives to achieve wonderfully and excel as a perfect model of womanhood.


Blue and white are our college colours. Blue symbolizes Youthfulness and white stands for Virtue.
